Sierra Designs Backcountry Bed Sleeping Bag

Sierra is about to take the zip out of the mummy bag. This bag is meant to be more bed than mummy.

With an integrated pad-pocket the base bag is not meant to move with you, but allows you to move within. Access is through the large opening. Comfort is provided by a separate comforter that can be tucked in or out as comfort and temperature dictate. Sierra is also going to offer an Ultralight Quilt, that will feature an integrated hood with hand and arm pockets. These and a Movable Mummy will all be revealed at the upcoming Outdoor Retailer Show. All of them stuffed with Sierra’s proprietary DriDown. We hoping to take them for a test drive.

Sierra Designs Zissou 30 Lite Sleeping Bag

The bugaboo with Down Sleeping Bags is that they are light and warm, but you can forget getting them wet. Find yourself in moisture and look for some uncomfortable nights.

With Sierra Designs DriDown fill regular down is treated with a molecular level polymer to create a hydrophobic finish on each individual down plume. This finish allows DriDown to stay dry longer, loft better, and dry faster than regular down, keeping you warmer in any environment. Since it’s summer here we’re checking out a summer weight bag, the Zissou 30. Stuffed with 600-fill  DriDown insulation, this bag gives you the light weight, compressibility, and warmth of down in a bag that will stay drier, loft higher, and dry faster in either humid or dry conditions.

$200
